Catalogue # MCA-31F5: Monoclonal Antibody 31F5 to yeast Lys20p and Lys21p.
The Immunogen: Lys20p and Lys21p are two isozymes of yeast homocitrate synthase. Their systematic names YDL182W and YDL131W respectively. Lys20p is of molecular size 47.1 kDa and Lys21p is 48.6 kDa; they are ~90% identical at the amino acid level. MCA-31F5 detects both proteins as a closely spaced doublet on immunoblots. Both proteins are localized to the nucleoplasm of the nucleus (1).

The block marked "PFAM HMGL-like" corresponds to the Hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA
lyase (HMGL) like domain which is found in a diverse set of enzymes
including various aldolases, pyruvate carboxylases and homocitrate synthases.
Scale is number of amino acids.
Antibody specificity (above right): Western blots of whole yeast protein extracts with a collection of our antibodies. The blot for MCA-31F5 is in the indicated lane, and the number indicates the SDS-PAGE molecular weight in kiloDaltons.
Antibody Characteristics: The antibody is in the form of filter-sterilized ascites fluid. The immunoglobulin subtype and concentration are unknown.
Suggestions for use: For immunoblots of yeast protein samples, use MCA-31F5 diluted 1/10,000 to 1/50,000 followed by chemiluminescent detection (ECL). For non-ECL western detection methods, try MCA-31F5 diluted 1/1,000 to 1/5,000. Press here for image of blot.
